For this assessment, you will demonstrate your understanding of lesson plan components, types of assessments, and the use of data to inform instructional planning and evaluate students.

Assessment Deliverable

Create a slide presentation that is at least 10- to 12-slides, in which you highlight best practices in lesson planning. Address the following in your presentation: 

  • Describe the following components of a lesson plan and how they relate to each other:
  • Standards
  • Objectives
  • Materials
  • Instructional strategies
  • Formative assessments
  • Summative assessments
  • Discuss how to use assessment data effectively to inform instruction and evaluate student learning.
  • Explain the use of Bloom’s taxonomy or Webb’s depth of knowledge in lesson planning.
  • Describe the differences between the understanding by design model and the linear-rational approach to lesson planning.
  • Share a minimum of 2 lesson plan formats or templates that you may use for lesson planning. Include a link or a screenshot of each format or template.
